This session is for any building-level administrator who is hiring a GATE teacher for the first time for the 2023-2024 school year. We will discuss how the GATE program is structured to support GATE teacher success, overall program trajectory, and building-level expectations for supporting the GATE teacher. Any building-level administrator new to hiring a GATE teacher should plan to attend ONE of the Orientation to GATE for Administrators sessions offered during Summer Academy.
**This session is for GATE Special Education SELF-CONTAINED CLASSROOM Teachers.** This initial session of Blueprint for all models focuses on key concepts to establish a strong classroom foundation including classroom organization, effective scheduling, managing staff supports, and IEP notebook development. Students will develop a classroom organization plan, draft schedule including student grouping, teacher planning, team planning, staff breaks, staff roles and procedures contract, a communication plan for classroom team and grade level teams, and IEP notebooks for each student in their class. Simple data collection systems will be provided for use for the first few weeks of school.
Participants will learn how to implement a mindfulness practice in their classroom and how to cultivate a personal mindfulness practice. A curriculum with lessons will be provided as a classroom resource.

Zones of Regulation is a curriculum that teaches a variety of social-emotional skills to children, starting with early emotional skills and advancing on to self-regulation and navigating social situations. This training will give access to curriculum and google drive of resources for all participants.
Participants will learn how to utlize FBA data/results to create a meaninful and thorough behavior intervention plan (BIP) for students. Resources and supports will be discussed and shared regarding both common and unique BIP interventions and accommodations.

This training emphasizes and teaches different levels of responding to crisis situations. Specifically, positive behavior interventions, de-escalation techniques and other strategies for early interventions are taught. Participants will be able to show competency in using strategies to de-escalate students who exhibit problem behaviors at different levels.
