Building A Reading Community Within Your School
Literacy skills are necessary for success in all content areas, but connecting literature in other areas can sometimes feel forced. Shared reading experiences build positive social and academic associations that can bridge gaps in learning and cross social barriers benefiting the entire school. Come learn ways to create a community of readers within your school where relationships are strengthened, SEL is consistently addressed, and disciplinary reading skills are easily reinforced.

Yes We Can! Building Confidence in the English Classroom
This session will explore ways to increase engagement and participation in the high school English classroom as students undertake reading and writing assignments that matter to them. We will explore ways of creating a classroom culture where students are "involved in authentic application of their knowledge and skills" through thought-provoking and real-world lessons, text selections, and activities (Instructional Protocol).
